Endocrine System

I’ve been trying to listen for the next system in line that I was desiring to write about. I am writing to hopefully link Organic Church Systems to the Human Body and it’s major systems. You know, stuff we can’t really change or do anything about.

The system I am writing about this time is the Endocrine System.

It took a while to hear, but I did. A lot of this writing came through difficulty in the local shared life community I am a part of. There has been an interesting parallel to Body Life with the Organic Church Systems functioning in real life and being able to see this functioning through natural body systems.

The Endocrine System is basically a natural body system that is composed of functioning glands that secrete hormones into the blood stream. These hormones are then received through the blood stream by specific receptors that then act based off of the hormone provided.

Think Adrenaline.

Fight or flight.

Adrenaline is pumped into your bloodstream and you either buck up and fight, or you flee a scenario based off of how your brain interprets the information in front of you.

I have seen the Adrenal Cortex function in the Body of Christ!

You see, these are those brothers and sisters that perceive danger or welcome. They perceive wolves in sheep’s clothing. They don’t change the actions of the Body. They throw up the yellow or red flags. They make the Body aware. The Body then moves or operates in a fight (defend or attack) or flight (retreat or disallow confrontation) response.

The Adrenal Cortex of the Body of Christ is an important member of the Body. Almost like a flagger waving to you as you drive down a street. The flagger lets you know something is coming up that is not going to be the norm. Get prepared to respond, not react.

Another aspect of the Endocrine System is the thyroid. They thyroid controls how quickly the body uses energy, makes proteins, and controls how sensitive the body is to other hormones. The thyroid gland begins to develop at 3-4 weeks after conception…that’s crazy!

I have seen the Thyroid Gland of the Body of Christ!

They provide signals to the Body that allow for proper metabolism of nutrition to the Body. Something that comes into the Body as nutrition, if there isn’t appropriate breaking down of this nutrition, the Body becomes diseased. A disorder of the Body that does not have a properly functioning Thyroid can be Type 1 Diabetes. The symptoms are increased urination, increased thirst, increased hunger, and weight loss.

I believe the Body needs members to function as the Thyroid, regulating metabolism on an ongoing basis. Allowing the Body to retain fluids, being quenched of thirst, being relieved of hunger, and maintaing a healthy Body weight.

These are just a couple of the connections the Organic Church System has with the human body. May we allow our Endocrine System to wave those flags. And may we respond in a healthy way to these brothers and sisters as they step out in boldness.

Mark, Interesting….I just open this post moments after sending my GP doc an email concerning my and my wife’s health. We have been diagnoses with a condition know as ‘adrenal fatigue’. In situations of life long, or shorter periods of extraordinary stress the adrenal glands get fatigued and are incapable of producing the needed cortisol our bodies need in order to be vitally alive and energetic.
The number one factor in recovery is rest, along with the avoidance of high levels of emotional upset. Secondary to this is proper diet, if you eat junk food you will pay the price.

Hi, I thought I’d leave you a trail to resources about the endocrine system at http://www.consultant360.com/topic/endocrine-system/ We offer this somewhat clinical information for doctors who may be interested in starting their diagnosis of a patient with this “topic center” The site is free, but it is clinical info so it may be over the needs of many.
