Warning Signs for the New Year: January 8

Week One of the new year is over. On to week two. You’re still at it, right? Did you have your conversation with He-Man yesterday? Hopefully the Power of Grayskull has worn off and you’re ready to move on to the the next day…

Now on to the next of the 31 Warning Signs. What do you need to be watching out for as you are attacking your New Year’s Resolutions this year? #31WarningSigns

Major Cause of Failure Number 8:

Procrastination. This is one of the most common causes of failure. “Old Man Procrastination” stands within the shadow of every human being, waiting his opportunity to spoil one’s chances of success. Most of us go through life as failures, because we are waiting for the “time to be right” to start doing something worthwhile. Do not wait. The time will never be “just right.” Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.

David Beckham. He is one of my favorite soccer players that I have been able to see play over the years. One moment he had in his career encourages me more than most. The game was on October 6, 2001 at Old Trafford in Manchester, England. That was his home field at the time. Glory, glory Man United! But I digress…

His national team, England, was playing their final qualification game for the following summer’s 2002 World Cup. England had to at least get a tie in the game to advance to the Finals in South Korea and Japan. They were playing Greece and were losing 2-1. The game had gone into extra time after the ninety minutes of regulation time had passed. And then this happened:

From this stage, and with this result, Adidas, one of David Beckham’s sponsors, put out an ad campaign for the 2002 World Cup with one phrase on it and monstrous picture of David Beckham. The phrase, “Cometh the hour, cometh the man” is a phrase in English folklore that traces back a few years. This is what showed up in Birmingham, England, as the England National Team made their way across the world to compete in the upcoming World Cup:

new, year's, resolution, cometh the hour, David Beckham

When procrastination comes knocking at our doors, it wants us to relax. Wait. Don’t worry about doing anything. Everything is going to be ok. Someone else will do it. I can always do it later. #31WarningSigns

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Let’s take whatever resources or tools we have at our disposal in THIS MOMENT, this hour, and let’s decide to act or move according to what we are going after this year! As we move, as we act, and as we go there will be other resources and tools that will show up. Grab them when you seen them. Until then…

On with your day people! And remember…

Go. Grow. Give.
